Post It

Pin it up!
I want to print these out on a pad and have it be like a desk notepad. That would be fun.

Pears

Another still life in drawing II. We're using conte charcoal, which is a much less forgiving form of charcoal. No smudging or re-doing. You have to move the conte in tiny little circles to make marks and it's exhausting.
I had a moment yesterday in class where I thought:
Shit. I just can't do this. I have a cold and I don't get this.
I'll go home and come back to it on Wednesday.
But then something awesome happened, and a tiny little inch square of my paper turned out PERFECT. Just a little bitty part of a pear looked beautiful; the shading perfect, the conte totally working for me, instead of against me.
The immense satisfaction of doing it right brought me back and I ended up staying late after class instead of leaving early.
Art school, guys.

Also this song is great:

Heart Beats

First assignment for Ellen Forney's comic class.

Treehouse

My first fully inked (with india ink and a paintbrush) drawing. The control I had over the brushes was awesome and I really liked how it turned out. Tomorrow we're having an inking class with Ellen and I am EXCITED. Art school win!

Class! And Schooling! And Learning!

School Is:

A little overwhelming
Expensive
Fun
Invigorating

I am loving my drawing class. Was a little freaked out they placed me in a higher class, but I feel like I'm not only keeping up, I might be in the top of the class. I hesitate to say this of course, cause it sounds braggy as HELL. Bear with me though okay? I'm sure I will have a crisis of self confidence by the time we're through.
We did an exercise where we drew a
banana
apple
and a shoe box
from memory. Then afterword, the teacher brought out the actual, physical items, and we had to draw those. Drawing from my memory was a lot easier, lemme tell you.

For today's assignment, we were to bring in a
pastry
beverage
and a fruit

I brought a muffin from work, pellegrino and a super old nasty lime.
So we made a little composition on the stool (shown above) and drew that. THEN in a surprise assignment (which seems pretty obvious to me now) the teacher had us take away the items and REDO the composition from memory.
Making me regret that I paid such attention to detail on the stool's paint marks.
It was hard man! But I did it. And I loved it.

The Many (Beautiful) Faces of A Narcissist

Realistically it's just because I don't have someone who's willing to sit and make faces at me while I draw them.

I! Am! Naked!

True love does exist. And it is super supportive.
Although I do make these kind of declarations quite a bit; I do not lack in self confidence! I feel like that little girl in her pajamas that stands in front of the mirror and shouts positive statements at herself.
"I like my apartment! I like my boyfriend! I like my job!"
This actually happened. He was reading Game of Thrones at the time, so I don't really blame him for his lack of enthusiasm.

Saint

Something I'm working on. It's so scary being terrible with computers, because I draw things and... that's it! If I put ink on them it's through. So I scanned this one in hopes that later when I'm good at photoshop and can color with a computer I'll be able to use this.
Inked!:

I love ink man. It just fills in the meat. Which is a creepy way to put what I mean. But check it out man! Dat ass! Dat dragon neck! Brawny!
Whew, it's 7:30,  I'm goin' to bed.
Just kidding; I'm going to put on my pajamas and watch documentaries.
Party.
Hard.
