Things I Hate

I have stated many, many times that I am "not here to make friends." Just like in reality television!

But at the same time, it is supes annoying when we have to group up and I'm like, the weird kid. I don't think I'm ever the weird kid actually, there are actually legit weird kids for that. I'm fairly normal looking and don't dye my hair or draw anime. I do draw a lot of naked people in my comics. I'm like, jesus, we're in art school. Is that not a perk? Are we not supposed to draw lots of boobs?
No?
Maybe I am the weird kid.

Franzi

Did a portrait of my buddy Franzi the other day after class. She's a nice lady and very pretty too. I took a picture of her after we went running one day
(Which I'm sure is exactly the picture she wanted me to use for a portrait).
It's interesting to draw things that I would normally avoid (ie: portraits) and see how much I've improved. I know this is another obvious one, but my classes have improved my skills so much, even in classical drawing that I hardly do outside my drawing class. I draw cartoons man! I'll have to find some things from my notebooks from years ago to post.
It's fun to see how much I SUCKED have evolved in my art.

My Week

Not the mention the severe mood swings, the peaks of hysteria and the overwhelming sense that I'm not doing ENOUGH.
I hate to admit PMS, because to me it feels like admitting (Well, not admitting but maybe conceding that PMS does happen) that women are weaker in a way, or that I'm crazy a week out of the month! I hate PMS stereotypes, and I HATE being asked "If I'm PMSing". But in all fairness, I feel crazy. And last night for dinner?
I had a bowl of ice cream and a glass of wine.

Shades

Experimenting with brushes and inking techniques. I am finding that I don't love free handing brush inking. It's much more satisfying and fun to lay down pencils and ink over them.

Treehouse Lane

I had a dream the other night I was in a treehouse store, kind of like Costco, but just treehouses. It was awesome, because they were all literary themed. There was an Amelia Bedelia treehouse and a Little Red Hen treehouse. Anyways.

Beddings

New assignment in drawing: moving on from sad fruit, we have entered the world of sadistic fabric. Fabric don't give a shit. Fruits are like, aw man, I'm wilting! My shapes are forgiving and interpretive! Fabrics like: Oh IM SORRY if you feel seasick trying to grasp my shapes and curves.
I just fell this way baby!
Annnnyways. Check out this process yo!

This monstrosity. Uf.

Mhmm. Mhmm. Drawin' some pillows. I chose not to blend the charcoal.
Which I don't regret. I like the affect it has. Blending does give it a softer look,
but I like the sharpness of mine.

I tackle the fabric. I want to throw up or literally tackle the fabric.

Heyyyyy, lookit that!

There's a shadow! There's a buncha shadows! Snaps.
Le End.

And in case you missed it:

Scales

My first fully inked (With brush and india ink) comic! It's history you guys! The assignment for my comic class (Called Comics: Essential Tools! very exciting.) was to create a comic without words, using icons (speech bubbles, exclamation points, sweat drops, etc.) and shaping our theme on the idea of "Big and Small".
So as you can see I have a big fish, and a little bitty fish!
Man, inking with a brush is so scary and so freeing.
I held my breath almost the whole time. There's nothing like imagining something in your head, and feeling that thought travel through your mind, into your arm, through your hand and fingers and onto paper.
Sorry, does that sound super... New agey? I've never felt that before now. To this extent at least. I hold my breath and grin like an idiot when I finish a line.
I like it. I hope you do too.

Also: I have a tumblr! Which you can follow! It's my new favorite thing because I am finding SO MANY artists I love!

Doodles in Art History

You probably can't read my handwriting, so I will enlighten you:
"It seems like it's enticing fear..."
"Interpreting art: If it sounds like bullshit, you're doing it right!"
"The lines are harder, which might mean anger and negative emotions..."
"The roses might mean the holy trinity..."

For all of it's bullshit, I do really enjoy art history.

Face Sketch

Drawing Trenten while he reads Game of Thrones. I think if you mashed all of them together they might make a good portrait of him, but when I try and draw everything at once...
It doesn't look great. Ex: That one in the top left + bottom right.
